Miracles do Happen
by Bren Joyce | gift type: Skills, Things, TimeMy daughter works at a homeless shelter in Albuq., NM
Not only does she do her duties for the CEO of this shelter, but on her own time she takes time to help homeless men find apartments, do the correct paperwork for disability, and medicare. She takes them to doctor appointments, grocery shopping and to get medical prescriptions filled. On her weekends she helps with providing food from her own meager budget, does errands and checks on the men who are in their own apartments.
This woman never ceases to amaze me with her caring, strength and view of the homeless problem. She writes letters, seeks funds for the shelter and makes calls seeking volunteers or looking for the stores that give away day old food for snacks. She picks up furniture, household items for the men that will be exiting homelessness into an apratment of their own.
Her job is very depressing, working around the sick, the hopeless and despair. But she is eager to help and jump in with passion, caring and concern for the less fortunate. She always has a smile and a kind word and the ones she has helped refer to her as their guardian angel. She is an angel on earth. Her love never ceases.
