Strings From The Heart

by NIcholas Giordano | gift type: Money, Skills

I'm a 12 yr old classical guitar player and I performed my first public solo performace in a concert to benefit children with cancer and serious blood disorders. Over $6,000 was raised and I was able to purchase all new music equipment such as guitars, drums, amps, karaoke machines and the like for the music therapy department at the hospital. There are therapists there that work with the children to manage their pain through music. There was also some money leftover, so it's in a birthday fund for any kids in treatment that have a special wish for their birthday. I also gave $1,000 of a college scholarship prize that I just won to "Make A Wish Foundation of NJ" and will be performing another concert next year to benefit the Make A Wish charity. I really enjoy doing these concerts for kids that are being treated for cancer and other diseases, because they have so much to deal with and I think these little gestures of goodwill make their days a little brighter.
