by mario alegado | gift type: Other, Things, TimeThe Jacinto-Gaudiosa Alegado Foundation, Inc. (ALEGADO FOUNDATION)was organized by members of the Alegado Clan, descendants of Jacinto Rama Alegado and Gaudiosa Ingking Alegado, both of Dungguan, Bolinawan Carcar City, Philippines. It's first President was Dr. Graciano I. Alegado, former Principal of the Notre Dame of Bongao,Tawi-Tawi, Philippines, and likewise a former professor at the Mindanao State University in Tawi-Tawi, Philippines. He now resides in San Diego, California USA.
The ALEGADO FOUNDATION was registered with the Securities Exchange Commission , Cebu Regional Office, Cebu City, Philippines, in October, 1998.
All the other officers of the Foundation are members of the Alegado Family.
The Foundation has conducted feeding programs for the children of Dunguan, Bolinawan, Carcar City on various dates, and for several years now. Medical missions have likewise been conducted at the said place. Medicines donated by friends of the Foundation based in the United States and Cebu City were given free of charge to recipients after having been examined by volunteer doctors, nurses and other medical professionals.
With the election of the Foundation's second President, Atty. Mario H. Alegado, a private law practitioner who now heads the Alegado Law Office located at Datu Halun Street, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, Philippines, the Foundation's activities were extended to the southernmost province of Tawi-Tawi.
This time, the focus was on helping raise the literacy level of pupils and students in the area thru distribution of books donated by friends and partner organizations in the US. On several occasions shipment of the books from San Diego California to Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, Philippines, was facilitated by a partner organization, the LBC FOUNDATION. The books were later distributed to the different schools in Bongao as well as to schools in the other municipalities in the province. But so much has still to be done with respect to this endeavor.
In April, 2006, the Alegado Foundation conducted a free medical mission in the capital town of Bongao, Tawi-Tawi. Medical consultations conducted by volunteer doctors were done at the gymnasium of the Notre Dame of Bongao, while minor surgery and tooth extration were done at the Datu Halun Memorial Hospital, also in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.
Donated medical/dental services by the volunteer doctors, nurses and allied medical personnel benefited more than a thousand patients in the 3-day medical mission. All medicines were given free of charge.
Now after two years of gathering medical supplies and small medical equipment through the Foundation's US Coordinator, Paulita Alegado-Agpaoa of San Diego, California, the Foundation is preparing to undertake its 2nd Medical Mission on March 28, 29, 30, 31 and 01 April 2008, with the Notre Dame of Bongao and the Datu Halun Memorial Hospital as the venues for the activities during the medical mission.
In this effort, the Alegado Foundation is in close contact with Knightsbridge International of Sir Edward Artis, the Philippine Marines, the law-enforcement agencies as well as the local government officials.
The Alegado Foundation and its Friends will continue to undertake these activities with more zeal and determination to help our children, the sick and the aged. And at the bottom of all these is the bedrock of compassion and willingness to serve others, as we preach the significance of protecting and preserving our environment not only for our generation but also for the generations that will come after us.
GOD BLESS !
