Giving Through Travel

Something that I've been doing in the last few years is taking alternative vacations. Instead of heading to California or Florida in the summer, I've gone to Peru to assist community leaders and groups help educate young mothers and children on health and nutrition. I’ve gone to Argentina every Spring Break for the past three years to march with the Mothers of May Square to demand truth and justice from the government for the disappearence of 30,000 people. In fact, I’ve been so inspired that I decided to make a independent documentary film about the Mothers and the history of Argentina’s Dirt War. Every time I visit Colombia with my family, since each passenger is allowed to check two large suitcases, we take the bare essentials and fill each bag up with old clothes to give away to the impoverished. My family also sends money to a good friend who then buys groceries for families in the poorest neighborhoods of Medellin. On my travels I’ve been able to fully enjoy the culture and nightlife of each country while being able to aide their poorest communities. I consider these to be the most fun and fulfilling trips one can have and encourage others to the same. You’ll have a great time and help save lives, too.
