Feeding children in North Uganda

by Bryce Roadley | gift type: Money, Time

My wife and I have been touched by an Australian Lady who has lived in North Uganda for the last 20 years. She has built a school and hospital and feeds 6ooo children a day and that number is growing. In North Uganda there is about 65 refugee camps with 1.7 million people living in these camps and Irene is in the process of building a school out side every camp so that she can make a difference. It is a major challenge she has under taken so I have decided to come a long side of her and do what I can to help. One of the most important ingredients to life is missing and that is an abundance supply of water.Children are sent up to 3 to 5 miles or more with a single drum to wait in a line for up to 8 to 10 hours to get water then to turn around and go home.I have seen a major need to raise money to buy 2 drilling rigs to build water wells in North Uganda. The wells need to be drilled down 80 to 100 feet so the drilling rigs would need to be of commercial grade to handle this type of work. Each rig would cost approx $350,000 usd and then we need equipment for the well sleeving and hand pumps.
