"Mom" at Papa's House in Nepal

Having been blessed with 3 beautiful daughters and the most loving and supportive husband I have always felt that I needed to do more/give more. I soul searched and said many prayers asking to be lead to where God wanted me to serve and soon came upon a site www.nepalorphanshome.org. Here began my journey 8 months ago.
After reading the site I knew this was where I needed to be and wrote to Michael Hess the orphanage's owner and operator. He immediately wrote back saying he would love to have me be "Mom" to the 31 children at Papa's House. Of course I was thrilled with the opportunity presented to me! Never had I traveled abroad let alone traveled anywhere by myself. But I never looked back. I wrote a letter to family and friends telling them of the journey I was to embark on and asking them to look at the site and please donate if they felt the same as I did after reading it. Because of my one little letter I was able to raise $7,000 for Nepal Orphans Home or Papa's House! 4 months later I was on an airplane to Nepal!
My time spent at the hostel with these 31 beautiful children has changed my life forever. They immediately began calling me "mom" which pushed me directly into the role I was looking forward to being in while there. I immediately opened my heart and arms to them, sharing stories of our lives, sharing hugs and kisses and cooking breakfasts of pancakes and french toast. I was able in my short time there to give these children the love that they so deserved. The love of a Mom braiding hair, walking to school, giving hugs goodbye and hugs goodnight.
It is a time that never leaves my thoughts for long. The children now write not only to me, but to my daughters as well. They are creating a relationship and understanding with children who have so much less, but will teach them so much more.
I will return next summer with my 17 year old daughter and in the meantime hope to raise much more money!
