" Helping distressed children..one packet at a time".

by Mary Beth Waters | gift type: Money, Things, Time

We assemble Love Packets to kids who are in stressful situations through no fault of their own.In each packet is as follows: a stuffed animal, a juice drink, an individual package of either cookies or crackers, a Bible card (we make them), a coloring book and a pack of crayons. When donated, we add a kids' card game (Old Maid, Go Fish, etc.).
We take he love packets to places as: the sheriff's office, the hospital er, the Ronald McDonald House, the domestic violence, the rape crisis, two local foster care agencies and some homeless shelters.
We are from Amarillo, Texas and we've received quite a bit of help from the folks in the panhandle. We are just now in our second year at the Love Packet Ministry and we estimate that we've been able to hand out around 1,300 packets to children in stressful situations. Someday, I would love to branch out and make Love Packets for folks in nursing homes as well. I have worked in nursing homes for a good number of years, and I know how lonely they get at times. Sometimes just a touch means so much to them.
But right now, we are concentrating on the children who are put in less than good situations.
