Doc to Dock

by Russell S | gift type: Things

An elderly man living on the lower west side of Manhattan contacted Doc to Dock. He had diabetes, and for years had been receiving medications and medical supplies for his home treatment. However, every month for the past decade the manufacturer developed a pattern of sending him first the wrong size syringes, then following up with a delivery of the correct syringes. He repeatedly told the manufacturer that they were wasting supplies by always initially mailing him the wrong syringes, but they never listened. The man refused to throw out the supplies, figuring that one day he could find a place to donate them.

After he saw President Clinton on the Daily Show speaking about Doc to Dock, he contacted us. We collected 6 large boxes of sterile, unopened syringes from his apartment, and sent those syringes to Africa, where they are now saving lives.
